History

Foundation of SwiSCI and design development

In 2007 SwiSCI was founded by: 

  • Prof. Dr. Gerold Stucki Director of Swiss Paraplegic Research, Professor and Chair, Departement of Health Sciences and Health Policy, University Lucerne
  • Mirjam Brach MBA, MPH, Administrative Manager of Swiss Paraplegic Research; Member of board of trustees pension fund Swiss Paraplegic Group
  • Prof. Dr. Alarcos Cieza Coordinator disability and rehabilitation, World Health Organization (WHO)

Between 2008 and 2011 SwiSCI was designed by health and rehabilitation experts and researchers:

The protocol paper was published in 2011: Amercian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, 2011, 90 (suppl): P. 5-16.

The study started in September 2010 with the retrospective study. In September 2011 the first community survey was initiated. The clinical study began in May 2013.
In 2017 the second community survey was conducted. The next survey is planned for 2022.
